Energy Star Pilot Program

New construction projects, because of the ability to visually verify the type and amount of insulation are easier to certify under the USGBC LEED for Homes program.Predicting the future energy performance of renovations and additions to existing homes is more difficult and they have typically not been covered by energy incentive programs, until now. ICF and Energy Star are hosting a series of Energy Star Pilot Programs to gather data on the improved performance and incremental costs of better insulation and air sealing practices during residential renovations. The builder, homeowner and Keith Hinzman are working with Jeffrey Rhodin at Sustainable Energy Analytics to exceed energy code requirements.
